What to See and Do in Beautiful Port Carling, Ontario
The Area
Folks have been calling Port Carling, Ontario the Hub of Lakesfor years. You can find it nestled between Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau less than three hours from Toronto via Highway 400. This beautiful town also has access to Lake Joseph, Silver Lake, and Mirror Lake, making it the idyllic place for boat lovers of all sorts, a quality that is proudly embraced by the locals and tourists alike.
Attractions
In a quaint town known for its water access, boat tours of Lake Rosseau, Muskoka, and Joseph can be a romantic getaway for two or a fun outing for the whole family. Every other year the Muskoka Lakes Association holds an antique boat show that’s free to the public. This August they will be celebrating their 125th year of marvelling at some of Muskoka’s oldest boats. It is expected that over seventy boats will be showcased this year with lots of captivating history to be shared. If you aren’t feeling so aquatic you may want to check out the Muskoka Lakes Library It’s open every day except for Sundays and features programs such as pre-school story time and art for seniors. Checking out the library provides a great opportunity to meet some friendly locals and pick up some great cottage reads.
Hanna Park
Hanna Park was donated by Mrs. Hanna in 1924 and has been cherished ever since by the Port Carling community. It’s located on Indian River and is home to many family-friendly events and activities. Here you can find the local beach, complete with restrooms, playgrounds, and sport courts. The park is also host to the local Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 9am-2pm starting June 28th. Hanna Park is one of the many things that make this picturesque town the perfect place to escape the bustling city and get back to nature.
