Sundridge Information

About Sundridge

The village of Sundridge is located approximately 2 and a half hours north of the GTA. Sundridge is part of the District of Parry Sound with a population of 985, according to the 2011 census. There are about 460 homes in Sundridge, 400 of these being single detached homes. During the summer months the population rises substantially due to cottagers and campers on Lakes Bernard and Eagle Lake. It sits between Burk’s falls and South River in the heart of Muskoka Parry Sound. Highway #11 by-passed the village to the west a few years ago which has changed traffic flow dramatically.

Local Lakes and Waterways

Lake Bernard is the largest freshwater lake without an island, covering approximately 2050 hectares. The average depth of the lake is 16 meters and the water level is controlled by an MNR owned and operated dam. There are three public boat launches on Lake Bernard: Sundridge, High Park Drive, South Lake Bernard Road.

Eagle Lake is about 15 minutes outside of the village of Sundridge, located in the township of Machar. Eagle Lake has a surface area of 943 hectares. The average depth is 6 meters – 22 meters at the deepest point. 10% of Eagle Lake is crown land. Mikisew Provincial Park provides a public access point. Another public boat launch can be found at the narrows.

Sundridge Real Estate

Real estate in the Sundridge area is a mix of waterfront cottage and year round homes, many on Lake Bernard. The prices for homes within the town itself range from about $165,000 to $250,000 depending on if they are waterfront or not. Cottage prices range from about $250,000 to $500,000 depending on lot size, lake frontage, cottage size and how private they are. The real estate market has been very stable in the village with very little change in property pricing since 2010. Services, Businesses and Health Care

Sundridge is home to multiple services and businesses including six churches, a funeral home, four retirement homes, a public school, health clinic, several veterinarians and real estate offices. Shared services include the S.S.J. Arena Hall and Ballfield, Volunteer Fire Department, Sundridge Strong Union Public Library, Sundridge Community Centre, Almaguin Highlands Air Park, and the Land Fill located on Forest Lake Road.
